Munich
Cosmopolitan and proud, with a rich history and bright future, Munich is the perfect venue for FESPA 2010. Situated in the warm south of Germany right in the heart of Europe, Munich is a beautiful city filled with both traditional and modern architecture. Situated on the river Isar, like many cities Munich started out as a small walled town and, as time moved on, expanded beyond them. The 'inner city' occupies a very small area with everything close by and easy to visit. Within you get a sense of the original wall and indeed, the city gates still remain. Munich is a vibrant city which plays host to a rich cross section of the business, industrial and sporting worlds; a host of international organisations such as BMW and MAN base their headquarters there. As a site of sporting excellence, Munich has in recent times twice hosted the Olympic Games. Famed for its beer festival, The Oktoberfest, Munich and Bavaria have a vast number of breweries. Beer is so special to Bavarians that it isn't even classified as alcohol, but is considered a 'health drink'. Beer making ingredients are not allowed to include preservatives or chemicals of any kind. For more information about Munich, visit the Munich Tourist Board website. |
